Christchurch Earthquake Update - Support and Condolences

The following message was sent by The Queen to John Key:
"I have been utterly shocked by the news of another earthquake in
Christchurch. Please convey my deep sympathy to the families and
friends of those who have been killed; my thoughts are with all those who
have been affected by this dreadful event. My thoughts are also with the
emergency services and everyone who is assisting in the rescue efforts.

Australia has offered us whatever assistance we need and the NSW Fire Chief  and 72 rescue workers are here now. He's reported as saying he's shocked by the level of devastation he's seen on the ground.

Auckland has supplied a plane load of building inspectors and civil defence staff this morning.

US President Barrak Obama has offered a US urban rescue team to assist locals at the scene of the devastation.

Badly injured people are being evacuated to hospitals around the country.

Red Cross website is down, presumably overloaded.
